people say it was easier to be bullied when people use ooc aliases, but tbh the current environment is more toxic because everyone assumes you're self-inserting as your character

so many people are self-inserting though or taking things personally because i had a character who got rejected after months of writing with someone etc and i was a little bummed ooc but i just moved on with his ic life and wrote about his disappointment because it's fucking rp and this writer didn't break up with me irl and doesn't know me and this is literally the point of rp

they are! i was trying to say that pretending there's no one behind a character makes it easier for these people to do things like this

(Anonymous) 2025-04-05 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
that makes sense given the sl meltdowns people have

(Anonymous) 2025-04-05 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
they equate the writer to their character and that's not healthy

the argument of pretending like there's no one behind a character has been used to justify really unhealthy blurry ooc behavior though anon like if i'm playing britney spears and dating justin timberlake ic and that justin is a terrible person to my britney i'm not sitting here feeling it personally because i am not britney and i can shut my laptop at any point and walk away and i don't take people being crazy ic as an attack on me ooc or as a lack of consideration for me as a writer because they do not know me
